Annual Events: Bringing Our Community Together
Festival of Gratitude (November)
This fall-themed festival brings our school community together for games and activities, in the spirit of gratitude. The event is held on our campus and is planned by a team of parent volunteers. Activities have included facepainting, pumpkin decorating, crafts, square dancing, sack racing, parachute play, a cake walk, jumpy house, live musicians, a chili cook-off and games. In 2016, Literary Character Day was also scheduled on the same day so that kids wore costumes to school and had fun being in costume during the event.
Winter Performance (December)
The Endangered Species Faire: Parade of Puppets (May)
Sherwood students participate in this annual community event by making a papier mache puppet of an endangered animal of their choice. Students choose a creature, learn about it, and then create it with help from parent volunteers in the classroom. The entire school then marches in the parade, displaying their beautifully crafted creatures, alongside 400 other participants at this annual event in Bidwell Park.
Sherwood Music Festival (June)
A Saturday afternoon end-of-the-school year "day on the green" event open to the entire community with live bands, food trucks, beer/wine, kids' games and activities, dunk tank, silent auction, tie-dyed T-shirts and other merchandise sold. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and something we all look forward to!
