BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Sherwood's Board of Directors generally meets on the third Thursday of the month at 6:00 p.m. at the school.  Occasionally, the Board may meet on a different week or will not hold a meeting.  The Board may also meet in "Special Session."  Meetings are open to the public and agendas are posted at least 24 hours in advance of the the next meeting, 72 hours in advance of regular meetings.

We encourage all members of the public to attend the meetings and participate in shared governance.  All regular meetings include a time for public comment.  If you are unable to attend a meeting and would like to voice a comment or concern, a letter can be left in the main office to be read at the next board meeting.

Russell ShapiroDr. Russell Shapiro
Dr. Russell Shapiro has spent his career in education, teaching Geology at various colleges and universities across the nation.  A drive to teach at a public university let him and his family to Chico in 2006.  Dr. Shapiro was on the initial start-up board for Sherwood, hosting meetings in the family living room and writing the charter.  He continues to have a very strong belief in public service.
 
 
 

BOARD COMMITTEES

Much of the Board's work is done at the Committee level and parents are encouraged to get involved in a committee that speaks to your interests.  (And yes, time spent on committee work most certainly counts towards your volunteer hours!)  Committees typically meet monthly at a time that works for the core members of the committee.  BOD committees are small groups consisting of 2-3 board members and typically includes teachers, parents, or administrative staff. You are encouraged to participate -- the more the folks involved, the better for our school.
